1. What Is Thermo Pine?

Thermo Pine is softwood (typically Scandinavian or Nordic pine) that has been heated to 180–220C in a low-oxygen environment.
This treatment changes the wood’s cellular structure:

Reduces moisture content to nearly zero

Crystallizes natural resins

Degrades hemicellulose (food source for fungi)

Darkens the wood color uniformly

The result is a more stable and decay-resistant wood compared to untreated pine.

2. Key Characteristics

Enhanced Durability

Thermo Pine typically achieves Durability Class 2–3 (moderately to highly durable),
making it suitable for outdoor use without chemical preservatives.

High Dimensional Stability

Less swelling, shrinking, and warping

Superior performance in changing humidity and temperature conditions

Ideal for exterior cladding or decking

Rich, Uniform Color

Ranges from golden brown to deep chocolate

Color goes through the wood, not just the surface

Will naturally silver/grey outdoors unless oiled or UV-protected

Lightweight and Easy to Work With

Softwood structure remains, but slightly more brittle due to heat treatment

Easy to cut and drill

Lighter than hardwood alternatives and thermally treated hardwoods

Eco-Friendly

No chemicals used—only heat and steam

Safe for residential use (including play areas and gardens)
